Sunrise at La Cygne Lake

This is a scene from La Cygnes lake that is about 30 minutes south of Kansas City. My son and I went camping at the lake this spring and we came across this sunrise in the morning and was impressed by the beautiful way the light reflected across the water. This painting was created with the tonalist painters James Whistler and George Inness in mind, especially their approach to texture and the atmospheric effect created by the morning light.
