Fifty Shades of Orange

This vibrant acrylic painting of the vast expanse of the Flint Hills is bathed in a kaleidoscope of shades of orange. My preference for acrylics is that they dry faster than oils. In some circumstance as here I wanted the paint to stay moist longer. and added some soft gel medium to give me time to work both with brush and palette knife. My works are just at the intersection of reality and abstraction, feeling familiar but ambiguous and abstracted.
