Sunflower Sisterhood
I have several internet artist friends from all over the world. We exchange ideas, comments, and general encouragement. Two of these artists happen to live and work in Kiev, Ukraine. They have been keeping and sharing a diary of their experiences since the invasion of their country. I have been very impressed by their courage and determination to keep producing art in that kind of environment and wanted to create a tribute to them. Since Sunflowers are an unofficial national flower of Ukraine and a symbol of the resistance and resilience during the current conflict, and are also a Kansas thing, they provided a connection for me. I have included the artists' words from their writing on April 24th this year when drone and missiles attacked Kiev.
