Having grown up in South Dakota, Carol found a love of the prairie, wide-open spaces. and an unobstructed view of the sky. While still a part of the corporate world, she decided to learn to paint, and did commissioned oil portrait work for the next 20 years. As a retiree, Carol turned to art as a second career and was able to expand her professional work to include the use of graphite and charcoal, ink, and pastel. She now creates and shows pieces in many media, created from scenes of her favorite things: the prairie, Jazz artists, mountains, animals and children. She continues to paint portraits and teaches drawing and painting in the KC area.
As well as being a resident artist at First Gallery Olathe, Carol shows at several Galleries in the KC area. She is a member of the National Oil and Acrylics Society, Missouri Valley Impressionists Society, The Heartland Art Guild, past President and current Show Chair for MidAmerica Pastel Society, a Board Member of Olathe Visual Artists, and of the Olathe Arts Alliance. Selections of her work can also be seen at www.carolrubsam.com and her Facebook page Carol Rubsam Fine Art - CAReflection.
