Connie Creek

Connie Cramer Creek was born in St Louis and lived most of her life in Kansas.  She attended University of Kansas and K-State University earning her Bachelors in Art Education.  Shortly after graduation she began teaching and exhibiting her sculpture nationally. In addition to teaching, Connie helped form the Arts Council of Johnson County. In 1980 she moved with her family to Norman, Oklahoma where she taught art classes and exhibited hand-cast paper at the Firehouse Art Center and th eNorman Public Library.

Connie and her family returned to the Kansas City in 1989 and began teaching at Pembroke Hill School where she served as Chair of the Visual Art Department.  During this time she also earned her Master of Art: Studio Painting from the University of Missouri in Kansas City.  Among other locations, Connie exhibited painting, sculpture and ceramic work in Salt Lake City, Chicago, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Phoenix, Denver, Key West, Portland, Ohio, and Key West.

Connie was invited to participate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Teacher’s Institute in Contemporary Art.  She wrote and secured numerous grants to travel and study in Mexico, England, Colorado, New York, and New Mexico. A dedicated educator, Connie is extremely proud of her student artists; over the years who have won hundreds of awards in national and regional art competitions. In 2015 she was featured as an Exceptional Educator at University of Iowa’s College of Education. Connie’s artwork placed first in Kansas City Art Teachers show at UMKC, and received a Judges’ Choice distinction at the Small Works National Invitational 2017 in Key West. She currently teaches at Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, MO.
